If you forgot to close your garage door or your kids left their bicycles out, chances are you've received a phone call from our Volunteers in Patrol. These are the folks who drive through the neighborhood to be extra eyes and ears for the Dallas Police. Neighborhoods that actively participate in the VIP program drastically reduce crime. When the bad guys know that people are watching, they usually go somewhere else. All you need to do is complete the training offered by the Dallas Police and go on patrol. Help us create gateways to our neighborhood with sign toppers. Reward green thumbs. Members judge the monthly contest of the best yard in the neighborhood. Winners receive free landscaping service and display the winning sign in their yard.
Do you have good computer skills? Is "attention to detail" your best attribute? We need you to help maintain our membership directory and help recruit new members.
Help make Dallas a safer place to live by reporting suspicious activity. Contact the Dallas Police to report prowlers, strange cars, and unknown solicitors. Get to know your next door neighbor better by sharing phone numbers.. Help the house across the street when they go on vacation by picking up stray pieces of mail for them. Want to be the first to greet new neighbors? Help identify new neighbors to the area. Help assemble and distribute welcome baskets.
One night a year is devoted to get out and meet neighbors and focus on fighting crime. This is a fun social event with great activities for kids and even pets. Past events have featured fly bys from police helicopters, Radio Disney, mounted police, and prize drawings.
Block captains help the association by distributing flyers, informing the welcome committee when a new resident arrives, and being a role model for the block.
Have a passion for photography? We need someone to take pictures for our website, Yard of the Moth, social events and the list could go on.
