Volunteers in Patrol

Got a car and a pair of eyes? We need you!

VIP (Volunteers in Patrol)

This is a group of L Street Volunteers who patrol in their cars and report anything suspicious to 9-1-1 and 3-1-1. This is a non confrontational group and does not carry weapons. Members choose the time and days they can volunteer. Members must first complete a background check and VIP training through the Dallas Police Department in order to participate. A VIP group is the number one thing a neighborhood can do to help control crime.

Going to be out of town?

Creating open communication with your Block Captain, Neighbors, or members of the VIP is a great way to help us all look out for each other!

If you know you will be out of town, please email vip@lstreets.org with your address and dates you'll be gone. The more information we have, the more effecient we can patrol our neighborhood.

Upcoming VIP Training Dates to Put On Your Calendar

Don't be afraid or frustrated by crime, get involved and help prevent it by joining the L Steets Volunteers in Patrol. You will set your own schedule and patrol the neighborhood in a non confrontational manner. Applicants must first complete volunteer training and pass a background check.

2006 VIP Training classes will be:

April 17-18-20 (Mon, Tues, Thurs)
Location: NE Police Substation from 7pm to 9pm

May 12 (Saturday only)
Location: Basement of Dallas City Hall, 1500 Marilla in the 9-1-1 office from 10am to 4pm

July 23, 24, and 26 (Mon, Tues, Thurs)
Location (July 23, 24): NE Police Substation from 7pm to 9:30pm
Location (July 26) Basement of Dallas City Hall, 1500 Marilla in the 9-1-1 office from 7pm to 9:30pm

September 8 (Saturday only)
Location: Basement of Dallas City Hall, 1500 Marilla in the 9-1-1 office from 10am to 4pm

November 12, 13, 15 (Mon, Tues, Thurs)
Location (Nov 12, 13): NE Police Substation from 7pm to 9:30pm
Location (Nov 15) Basement of Dallas City Hall, 1500 Marilla in the 9-1-1 office from 7pm to 9:30pm
